Update from the Commander

My Pennsylvania American Legion Family;

As we enter into the Holiday Season for 2020, I send along my hope that all of you and your families are well.  With the increase in COVID-19 cases here in Pennsylvania and all across the country recently, it is more important than ever to practice safe distancing when you leave your homes. It is important to remember that most of the spread of this virus is happening when people don’t have symptoms.  So, unless you have people in your family and circle of friends getting tested all the time, you have no idea who is infected with the virus and potentially spreading the disease when they come into your home or when you visit theirs.

Here at Headquarters, we have several of our staff who have family members who have either tested positive, have tested inconclusive or who are awaiting testing results for the virus.  Due to this and to the uptick of cases in the area, Headquarters is closing our doors to walk-in visitation once again.  Your staff is still working, but call for an appointment if you want to visit us.

Finally, our Department Adjutant, Kit Watson, has retired.  His duties have been given temporarily to our Assistant Adjutant, James “Woody” Hogan while we search for Kit’s replacement.  Woody can be reached at 717-730-9100, ext. 128, or at  The advertisement for Department Adjutant will be forthcoming.

Have a great Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Please be safe, be strong and be proud as we say “Good Riddance!” to 2020.

Bob John, Department Commander
