A note from Mark Clark on the National Rider Facebook page
Good Morning National American Legion Riders . I just want to jump on here and say thank you to all the Legion Family that rode or supported the National Legacy Run this year. Every year we wrap up this ride tired, hot, and thankful for a safe journey.
This is especially true of those on our leadership roster of whom I ask a great deal. This year we have the added sorrow of the news that several of our Alabama ALR had a terrible accident on the way home. While those involved had not ridden the National Legacy Run, they did meet us at our end of ride stop to support our cause.
No matter where you are, if you wear the backpatch of The American Legion Riders you are part of an amazing family working every day to change and save lives. I am asking you to remember that and be proud.
Often in the aftermath of a tragedy like our recent loss and injuries amongst our Alabama brothers and sisters, our emotions can get the best of us. My request of you this morning is to set aside any hard feelings you may have for one another, any judgements you may have of others, and to love one another as brother and sister.
We never know when "it" can happen to us, so while we still can, let's respect the work of others and be proud of the extraordinary work we all do for The American Legion Family. Life is too short to spend time doing otherwise.
Proud to be your Chairman and proud to be an American Legion Rider.
