Chambersburg Squadron 46 Makes Donation towards the purchase of Police K9

The Chambersburg Police Department which is mostly comprised of Veterans recently attended a meeting of Chambersburg Squadron 46 and spoke about their K-9 unit and the need to replace a retired K-9.

Historically, the police department has never purchased a police K9 with taxpayer money. The CPD has been fortune enough to receive donations from the community to their K9 fund. At the end of the discussion the Squad was treated to a demonstration by one of the current K9s. The CPD is always appreciative of any donations and the Squadron inquired into the costs of purchasing a K-9.

After the guests departed, the Squadron had a discussion on what we had just learned from the officers and we decided as a Squadron to donate the funds for a new K9 for our police department. The CPD is comprised of many Veterans, and we will do our part to support the community also by making this donation. This is what our Squadron does.

The donated money in the amount of $17,425 will be used to purchase the K9, cover the cost for the K9 academy for the new handler and all associated equipment costs. The new K9 will be purchased next month and the K9 handler will be off for training in September. Our Squadron is very proud that we were in the position to make this donation within our community
