Robert E. John

Department Commander Robert E. John decided to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1968. He was sent to Lackland Air Force base, San Antonio, Texas for basic training and from there he went to Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois for 42 weeks of technical training in Minuteman Missile Electronics. His duty station turned out to be Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota, A SAC Base, where he worked tending the Minuteman III Missile Electronic systems and trying not to freeze to death. He met his future wife there who was attending Minot State College. After leaving the Air Force in 1972, Commander John spent 35 years in the Drinking Water Industry. He is now retired and lives in Chambersburg with Norlynn, his wife of 45 years. They have two children, Jessica and Dustin.
