The Legion College East Committee met in August Department Headquarters. The committee is as follows Chairman William Vandrew and Vice Chairmen Levi Smalls, Clyde Brown, and Charles Oakley.

We were forced to move to a late cancellation on the school’s part. However, it worked out in our favor as it is a nicer facility. We hope to continue using the new school. The Committee went over financial needs from last year’s program and discovered that we had a deficit because of rising food costs and other needs of the program including graduation cap pins all persons receive at the end of the day. Therefore, we decided to keep the cost of the program $25.00 Hopefully, these changes will be a benefit to all those attending.

Committee’s West and East meet after each meeting and went over the new year classes. West asked for 3 more class rooms for 11/4/23 @ Latrobe Sr High School. Sharon asking to email applications this year. Every member needs to have computer to complete application then they can print lunch ticket out. Post will receive 1 application for the member that doesn’t have a computer or someone at the Post can help them out. Each member needs an email.

Department needs more precise definition of each course sent to Sharon Delancey. This year food will be catered by Flugenthaler again this year. The final report for class year 2022 at West was sent to Department in time @ HQ to be placed in the 104th Convention Book for July 13-16 2023 in Harrisburg PA. November 4, 2023 American Legion Department of Pennsylvania held the yearly college west program at Latrobe Sr High from 7-3:30 to educate the Legion Post’s members on how to conduct business as to Local, State & National Laws. Each program of the Legion & Officer Bylaws is held in many classrooms. This event with lunch served plus college year pin. There was 420 members plus Department Staff and Committee members. Legion, Auxiliary, SALS and Riders from all over the state of PA. The Legion thanks Greater Latrobe Senior High School for this yearly event and also a thanks to the custodial staff for setting all the
tables and chairs in the class room. Thanks to Flugenthaler Catering for the morning coffee and Danish then 2 lunch periods serving from the café, thank you to the sound man for running the pa system. The school is the proper fit for the members ADA approved. This event has been held since 1957 starting at St Vincent College. The Department of Pennsylvania American Legion holds 2 college events one in the East and 1 in the West. See you next year 2024 in the fall
