Post pays dues for active-duty member Navy chaplain for 30 years
157 - Ellwood City, PA
I am so proud of Legion Post 157 in Ellwood City, Pa. The post sent me to Keystone Boys State while in high school, and I was delighted to represent the post in the Oratorical Contest speaking on the U.S. Constitution. I became a Lutheran clergyman in 1991 and a Navy chaplain in 1994. My post paid my dues as an active-duty member. I retire from the Navy on Nov. 1, 2024, as a captain serving my last assignment as fleet chaplain for U.S. Fleet Forces in Norfolk, Va. I am proud of my post, where my grandfather (WWI) was a former commander, my father (WWII) was a member, and I am an absent third-generation Legionnaire. A member of my family has been a Post 157 member continuously since the end of WWI.
