VETERANS AFFAIRS REHABILITATION COMMITTEE
William Smith
As Chairperson of the VA&R Committee, I am honored to work on behalf of our Commonwealth of PA Veterans and their families to ensure they receive the benefits they have earned due to their honorable service for this great Nation.
During September 2023, the VA&R Committee met at the Red-Carpet Inn in Harrisburg PA.
The National American Legion priorities handout was provided to the 115th Congress as well as Committee members.
Unfortunately, this year John Emil Past District 12 Commander and a VA&R Committee member, passed away. Our condolences to his family. John’s passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill.
Fort Indian Town Gap houses a Department of Military and Veterans Affairs that supports Department Services Officers in assisting families in submitting claims. Further information can be obtained from Department Service Officers.
It is imperative that information on any assistance given to the Veterans at the post level by the Post Service Officer, Commander, District Commander, etc. is provided to the Department Service Officer (DSO).
We are grateful to the Veterans Administration (VA) as they make sure Veterans benefits are upgraded and added.
On the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, we remember and thank all those allied forces that put their lives on hold and participated in the invasion of the beaches at Normandy in northern France during World War II.
In closing, I wish to thank all the members of the VA&R Committee for their services this past year. I also wish to thank Department Commander Steve Lavelle for appointing me as Committee Chairperson and appointing the VA&R Committee.
