Veterans Day events happening in Scranton PA
VETERANS DAY SERVICES
Jermyn: Nov. 11, 11 a.m., Veterans World War I Park, Bridge Street. The William J. Griffiths American Legion Post 465 will present the ceremony with Commander Fred Jones, master of ceremony and main speaker. Guest soloist Christine McGreachie and Bethany Fetfatzes with the Lakeland School District Band will provide patriotic and military music. Immediately following the ceremony, a luncheon will be provided sponsored by the Jermyn Shade Tree Commission, Jermyn Events Committee and the American Legion in the St. James/St. George Episcopal Church lower-level rooms.
Jessup: Nov. 11, 11 a.m., Jessup American Legion Post 411 and VFW Post 5544 combined Veterans Day Ceremony, Veterans Memorial Park, Hill Street. The public is invited. Following the ceremony, food and refreshments will be offered at Post 411, 508 Church St.
Scott Twp.: Nov. 9, 10 a.m., Scott Township Veterans Memorial in front of the Township Building, 1038 Montdale Road, with Scout Troop 265 and Lakeland band and chorus. Refreshments to follow.
Throop: Nov. 11, Throop Legion and VFW services. The members of the Herbert Clark Post 180 Throop American Legion and the Throop VFW Post 7251 will meet at the Throop Municipal Building at 9:30 a.m. Memorial services will begin on site at the Veterans Memorial Monument at 10 a.m. All members will then proceed to the VFW Post 7251 Memorial Monument for services there at 11 a.m.
