I would like to thank Commander Fritz for the appointment. I would also like to thank the SAL committee members, Bill Houser, Manuel Griffin, Bill Bennett, Kim Jacobs, Roger Pospisil and William Weaver. I would also like to thank Lewis Jones for his advice and support.

The purpose of the committee was discussed, and it was explained that the committee is to serve in an advisory\oversight capacity and not as a disciplinary capacity. The committee will work on a few items this year to include a District Commanders training, to help improve the training the SAL offers at Legion College, to assist the SAL officers to understand the changes coming to the Detachment Constitution and By-Laws, to assist with the search for suitable candidates to fill the gaps in the Districts Commanders positions and to help improve on communicating to the entire SAL population in the Detachment.
