Three students from Erin Cornelius’ gifted class in the Mount Union Area School District recently participated in the American Legion Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest. They were present at the Mapleton Auxiliary Unit 322’s monthly meeting Feb. 10 to read their essays to auxiliary members, their parents and state Rep. Rich Irvin. First place went to Kitalia Saimders, who is missing from the photo, second place went to Beau Petron and third place went to Irene Weng. With the students are, from the left, Jody Honstine, district president for Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, and Perry counties, Weng, Irvin, Petron and Linda Kyle, unit president.
