A MESSAGE FROM OUR DEPARTMENT COMMANDER
Hope all are doing well and ready for the holidays stretch, lets all be thankful for each other and of course the American Legion in how it supports us and our fellow Veterans, this is an important time of year for all of us, we need each others support, we cant forget a Veteran just because they are not a member of our organization, we need to honor our Veterans and communicate with them, they may have needs that we are not aware of and we could actually "be the ones" that make a difference in their lives member or not, So this Thanksgiving take a little time to reach out to as many Veterans as you can and just say Hello, can I assist you with anything. Commanders I hope you are reaching out to your Posts and passing similar messages to them, it goes along way to cultivating positive communication with the Posts professionally and personally.
Now as for business, we are slipping into a desperate race to make target for Dec 4th, we need 5707 members in 8 days, this is a tall order but it can be done but its very hard during a holiday period, I encourage you to stay on the phones and post visits and not relent, do not allow them to hold even 1 card, they all add up in the end, sooner is better than later. Membership Chairs, now is the time to start a rapid fire line of communication with the Districts and the troubled posts, you need to ID the troubled posts and get a line of communication open and offer a strong line of encouragement and solutions to the problems they are having, we cant expect to make up the difference at another date or expect it just be ok at a later date because it wont, the hole gets to deep and then it becomes catch up, the Membership Chairs and Vice Commanders to include myself are only a call away, we have no problem in assisting any and all that call and ask, remember that membership retention and renewal is the blood of the organization in every facet of our being, retention, retention and retention, its so important, once we promote our cause and promote a positive image and our programs to the community the new members will come, Commanders lets get this done early not later.
Our Department is here to help on every possible issue, I can attest first hand this Department is top shelf and spends every minute assisting you and devoted to the cause , we are lucky to have them and they should be praised accordingly.
Myself and our Department want to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving and a safe holiday period.
John Fritz
Commander
