The American Legion Baseball Season kicked off with some of the first games being played over the Memorial Day weekend. State Championship will be played this year North Alleghany High School In Wexford, PA from July 27th -31st with the winner and runner up representing the Department of Pennsylvania at the Mid- Atlantic National Tournament in Hanover Maryland August 7-11th . This will determine who represents the Mid-Atlantic Region in the National World Series in Shelby, North Carolina from August 15-20th. The Pennsylvania American Legion Sports Banquet being held this year at La Roche University on Friday July 26th, where we will induct 5 new members into the Hall of Fame. Regional Tournaments to determine participants in the State tournament will be held at Lower Macungie, Broomall, Hershey, Berwick/Bloomsburg, Blackhawk, Claysburg and St. Marys. Youth Regional Tournaments will be held in Boyertown, Upper Perkiomen, and Homer City. Youth Finals will be held in Homer City and the Prep State finals will be in Boyertown from the 27th through 31st of July. For the first time there will be more postseason play for the Youth and Prep Divisions as the top 2 Prep teams and the Top Youth team will travel to Cumberland Maryland to participate in the MasonDixon American Legion Junior and Prep Tournament where they will compete against teams from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio Aug 2nd – 4th. We have also brought back our State All-Star Showcase which will be held on August 12, 2024 at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa. The showcase will bring together 3 teams representing the East, West and Central Sections of the State with 24 of the top players from each section. This year team totals for registration saw us with 308 teams registering with 184 Senior Legion teams, and with the Junior Legion program having 94 youth and 20 Prep Teams. The Junior Shooting Sports Championship will be July 16-21 at Hillsdale College in Michigan. Pennsylvania saw two shooters place in the Top 15 in the Precision Shooting competition. Samuel Adkins from Hummelstown representing the Palmyra Junior Rifle team took first and Hunter Jenkins of Washington, PA took the fifteenth position. Both were to receive invitations to the National championship.

State Police Youth Week was held June 9th through 15th at Messiah University and saw 55 cadets participate in the program. While Keystone Boys State was held June 16th through the 22nd also at Messiah University with 135 Citizens enrolled.

As always Lewis Jones and Sharon Delancey have been instrumental with their guidance and in keeping the baseball program officials informed of all requirements.
