BARB K LONCAR VFW STATE COMMANDER
Barbara K. (Sweeney) Loncar graduated from Littlestown Senior High School, Littlestown, PA. Her family involvement with VFW Post 6954 resulted in her service as in the Junior Girls Unit and the Ladies Auxiliary at 16. She enlisted into the Army Reserves after high school and went to Fort Jackson, SC for training as a clerk typist 71L, serving in the 316th Station Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa., in the S3 Operations section. November 1990 Loncar deployed with the 316th Station Hospital in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In the summer of 1991 Barb joined the Mason and Dixon Memorial VFW Post #6954 in Littlestown, Pa. She became a military technician with the Army Reserves, assigned to the 324th Military Police Company in Gettysburg and later transferred to the Defense Information Systems Agency. Nine years later the unit moved to Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa. Loncar retired from the military in March 2020 after more than 42 years of service. Loncar served numerous capacities at the post, district, and state level before she was elected as the State Jr. Vice Commander; in June 2023. Loncar is a life member of Post 6954 that merged with Post 5265 Spring Grove in the beginning of 2022. Her military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal; two Army Commendation Medals; the Army Achievement Medal; the Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal; the Southwest Asia Service Medal, with two devices; the Kuwait Liberation Medal and Saudi Arabia Service Medal. Loncar’s family includes her husband who she met in the military in 1986 at Fort McCoy, WI. Jeff Loncar adopted her two children from her first marriage and is a fellow VFW member and lifelong partner. He also served with her in the 316th Station Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Their son Nicholas J.C. Loncar, lives in Burbank, Ca., with his wife and two children. Their daughter Danielle C. Badders lives in Camp Hill, Pa., with her husband and two children
