COMMANDER’S COLUMN Steve Lavelle

Department Commander

This job is definitely demanding as the last few months have been very busy.

I had the opportunity to travel to our National Headquarters for the Fall Meetings. While there, I attended National Commander Seehafer’s homecoming. It was held at Chip Ganassi's Headquarters. I found it very interesting and a great learning experience. The meetings were interesting.

Our membership is doing well for the year. Kudos to our membership team. But we can’t let up. It is getting close to crunch time, and we must continue to get our membership numbers into Department/National.

I enjoyed attending both Legion Colleges. They were an immense success. Job well done by our Headquarters Staff for getting the East logistics in order at last minute. They were able to organize a new location, different school staff, and it came off with very minimal problems. Your headquarters staff is always working hard for our members.

The following weekend we were in Latrobe for the Western Section meeting. Great job Vice Commander Church!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Holiday season.

I am looking forward to the start of the hospital tour.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year, keep our Troops in your prayers. God bless.

Commander Steve
