ROBERT DESOUSA BOARD CHAIR ELECT, FRIENDS OF THE FISHER HOUSE

Robert J. DeSousa is Of Counsel to the firm Eckert Seamans in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania Office. He served as the State Director for United States Senator Pat Toomey from January 2011 until January 2023. Mr. DeSousa has had a long career in public service in Pennsylvania. Bob previously served as a private attorney and businessman in the Harrisburg area. He was a Federal Law Clerk, an Assistant United States Attorney (Chief of the Civil Division), and served as the Chief Counsel for Pennsylvania’s Department of State. He was the Inspector General of the Commonwealth under Governors Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker. He was the Former National President of the Federal Bar Association, and the Past Chairman of the Board of the National Civil War Museum. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University, his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law and his Master’s Degree from the U.S. Army War College. Bob retired as a Colonel in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard after which he was promoted to Brigadier General on the Pennsylvania Retired List, His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and many others.  He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Catholic War Veterans, American Legion, the Military Officers Association, the Association of the United States Army and the Association of the 28th Division. He is a past State Judge Advocate, Department of Pennsylvania VFW, and the Current Post Judge Advocate, Post 9639 and Commander of Catholic War Veteran’s Post 707. Bob and his wife Elizabeth live in Harrisburg, PA.
